The aim of Against Oppression is to critically examine the history and popular narrative of America as a paragon of freedom, civil and human rights, and benevolence; present alternate views; and discuss ways to further the values of justice, equality, and freedom for all people. Through news analysis, essays, and dialogue, we will explore ways in which the American people may practice deep civic engagement, reclaim active citizenship, and build and participate in a more democratic society.
